Is there a game where you create your own political party?
Yes, a few. On iPhone, Midterms 2026 is built entirely around it: you found a new party and try to break the two-party system in one election. On PC, Democracy 4 and The Political Machine are worth a look, though they're more about governing or running for president than starting a party from nothing.
Full disclosure, I made Midterms 2026, so take my ranking with that in mind. Here's how they compare.
Midterms 2026 (iPhone)
You pick a party name, logo, colors and a leader, then tell the press what you stand for. Your ideology and top issues decide where voters like you. After that you have 20 turns before Election Day:
- Open state offices that grow your vote and pay income
- Hold rallies, where you pick an act that fits the crowd. A tractor works in farm country, a rap song works in the city
- Take or refuse money from oil companies, podcasters and interest groups
- Watch the Democrats and Republicans take their own turns and run attack ads where you get close
Election night counts 35 Senate races and all 435 House seats. It's free, needs no account, and a full campaign takes well under an hour.
Democracy 4 (PC and consoles)
You don't build a party here, you're already the government. It's a deep policy simulator where every tax and law moves voter groups. Great if you want to see how policy choices ripple through society, less so if you want campaigning.
The Political Machine (PC)
You run a presidential campaign state by state across the Electoral College, with ads, speeches and endorsements. It's the closest PC game to a campaign map, but you play an existing major party, not your own.
What I'd pick
- Want to start a party and campaign on your phone: Midterms 2026
- Want to govern and tweak policy: Democracy 4
- Want a presidential race on PC: The Political Machine
I think the "new party" angle is still rare because most games treat the two big parties as the only real options. That gap is exactly why I built mine.
