Are there games like Democracy 4 on mobile?
Not exactly. Democracy 4 is a deep policy simulator, and I don't know of a phone game that copies that spreadsheet-style depth. What you can find on mobile is a different slice of politics, like running a campaign. That's where Midterms 2026 on iPhone sits.
What Democracy 4 actually is
Democracy 4, from Positech, makes you the head of a government. You adjust taxes, benefits and laws, and a web of connections shows how each choice affects groups of voters, the economy and your own popularity. It rewards patience and reading.
That depth is hard to fit on a small screen, which is probably why mobile versions of this style are rare.
What mobile does well
Phones suit short, clear loops. So the political games that feel at home there tend to be:
- Card or choice games with quick decisions, in the spirit of Reigns, where you swipe on a ruler's decisions
- Campaign-style games with a map and a timer
- Small strategy games with one clear goal
Midterms 2026, a different angle
I made Midterms 2026, a free turn-based election strategy game for iPhone. It isn't a governing sim. You found your own party and campaign for 20 turns before Election Day, trying to win a House majority of 218 seats or become the kingmaker no big party can govern without.
There is a bit of the Democracy 4 feel in the decision cards. An oil company or a podcaster offers you something, and you weigh money against power and votes. It's one choice at a time, not a hundred sliders. A campaign takes well under an hour, there's no account, and the game works offline.
What I'd do
- If you want the real Democracy 4 experience, play it on a computer
- If you want something similar on your phone, think about what you liked. If it was weighing trade-offs, try a decision-heavy game. If it was shaping a country, there isn't much on mobile that matches
- If you'd enjoy running a campaign for a few turns, give mine a try
I'd rather be upfront than say it's a drop-in replacement. It isn't, and I don't think it needs to be.
If Democracy 4 left you wanting more, the best move might be to keep an eye on the store listings for new releases. The mobile strategy space moves faster than people expect, and a game I haven't heard of may fit better than anything I could name here.
